Okay, so how’s about a recipe for Game Day and my favorite… YUMMMMM a “Blooming Onion”!

Link up an old pic folks! No rules, other than that.   Sign the linky & let me come & see your Flash from the Past & your Recipes!   Here’s mine!
This was taken in 1943.  Soldier on right was my dad when he was in the Army.  He was a Linesman, MP & then he became a cook, and he fed all our fighting soldiers.  God bless this man.  God bless my dad.  Next is my Mom, & she was a Candy Striper (what we would call a CNA today)… isn’t she cute!  My mom was only 4′ 10″, and a bundle of joy!  She would always say she was 5″, but “I’d tell her not with your shoes on, Ma!!!”  Miss you Mommy!  May they both Rest in Peace together!

We’re still going with anything goes at Friendship Friday and I’ve been putting up old cartoons. I hope you’re enjoying them. 🙂

So how about this week I ask you to leave a comment on any my reviews.  They are looking mighty bare!  If you leave a comment & tell me you did I’ll come by you & do the same!  Now if you need something different like a follow on Twitter or Pinterest or Facebook or just for me to follow you do the same here, and I’ll do the same by you.  Just let me know what it is.  THANKS EVERYONE & HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!

  • Don’t forget “Monday’s Music Moves Me” & “Show Off Tuesday” next week & CHECK OUT MY GIVE-AWAYS in my side-bar!  See ya then!

I’m not the biggest onion fan so I’ve never had a blooming onion before but they are indeed pretty neat to look at! As for your throwback Thursday both your parents are adorable 🙂

I didn’t see your linky this morning. Oh well…the blooming onion recipe looks good, but a lot of work. I think I’ll stick to getting it on rare occasions at the restaurant. I like blooming onions and onion rings, but eating them kinda get old fast. It’s a good thing because I don’t need all of that deep fried, calorie packed, artery clogging goodness. lol I love vintage photos! Your dad looks sharp in uniform. I don’t know what it is about a man wearing a uniform! Oh, your mama was a shorty! My mother was only 5′ tall when I was younger, but now she’s shorter. I kinda feel like a giant next to her when I wear my 3 1/2″ heels and I’m only 5’2″. Have a nice weekend, Marie and I’ll see you on Monday! 😉

The blooming onion looks delicious! I might just make a small one for when my mother and grandmother come to visit tomorrow. Oh, I hate their visits. I love ’em so much, but they can be such nags. They also think that all the items I get for blogging are just free stuff. They don’t see the work behind it.

Now that you share this I remember this blogger Alicia who used to do it. Do you remember her? Where is she?

I love your old pics Dolly.

Hi Marie, I stopped back by and dont see the linky for recipes this time, but I did want to thank you for visiting Oh My Heartsie Girl this week. Heres my Hearty Oak Cookies Recipe Link:

The blooming onions looks really tasty especially for snacks and pick up foods/appetizers. This are really old photos of your dad and mom.

Hi Marie, stopped back by to add my recipe, thanks for letting me know the linky was open.

That blooming onion made me realize I have only had one of those ever in my life and now I want to buy another one.

It’s so fun to get a peek at your lovely and petite mom. RIP indeed!

Oh my goodness, the blooming onion! I’ve never made one but I sure do love eating them. Thanks for sharing!

Wow I have never seen one or made one – this is cool.

I love how you have them sweet memories of both your parents. It is such a sweet dedication to them both. Thanks for sharing.

I love the pictures. My gram was short like your mom and we used to tease her. Her feet would swing if she sat on the step stool. 🙂

Loving the flashback and I also entered one of my recipe. Thanks for the link up.

Who knew it was so straightforward to make a bloomin’ onion. I will have to try this out. I know I love eating them.

I love the old family photo’s. Especially the candy striper reference. I have not heard that term in ages. It made me smile.

Hmmmm.. Super nice old photos! I might join your blog hopping soon! 🙂

Blooming Onions.. I’ll try this one at home! It looks so yummy!
