This one might be a repeat for some, but I thought I’d show it again.  Yum!  I’ll be making some new ones soon.

Split Pea soup & Pigs in a blanket

Pigs in a blanket I think we all know how to make.  These are croissants with ham & cheese wrapped up and baked in the oven.   My split pea soup is a ham bone put in my crock pot with split peas soaking all night, pieces of ham and sliced onion and a small stalk of celery chopped up, one clove of garlic and cooked for five hours on low stirring occasionally until thickened.  mmmmm  mmmmm  Bona petite!!!  Darn now I’m going to have to make some.  I usually wait for colder weather though. mmm

This may sounds crazy, but I’ve never hard pea soup! I do make pigs in a blanket though my kiddos love them. Sometimes we even put hotdogs in place on the ham 🙂

    •

Actually I use to do the dogs too and do when the kids come over. They love them, but Split Pea Soup is made with ham, and I thought the ham would go better with the soup. I tried it and it worked quite well hubby loved them. Whenever I make stuff up & hubby says what are we having I just say, “MOODY SURPRISE”! (Moody is our last name) and he just goes OHHHHHHHHH. hehehehe household chuckle I guess. Have a great day!

    •

Yes, hubby wouldn’t have it any other way, but he loves lots of meat in there too! hehehe I love lots of celery in there too, and I use celery salt instead of regular salt when seasoning. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by. You have so many great recipes you need to post some some time 🙂 Thanks Liz.
