I love all your high-school era one-hit wonders! Fun fact: I used to watch Jimmy Hart (of the Gentrys) every Saturday on Mid-South Wrestling….before televised wrestling was a global thing. I about flipped when my Dad told me Jimmy Hart was the singer of this group.

Oh yes, that’s my type of music. I had Keep on Dancing as a 45, and I would have listened to A Whiter Shade of Pale over and over if I had that 45. I’ll have to listen to the time capsule when I have some time, but thank you for all the music goodies!

    Marie,

“Leader of the Pack” and “A Whiter Shade of Pale” are classic 60s hits I remember. I did a whole series on #1 One-Hit Wonders form the 60s that I finished last month if you recall. “Stuck in the Middle with You” is a popular 70s tune peaking at #6 on the US Billboard Hot 100 charts. It did better here in the states than in the groups’ home country. Thanks for sharing the dance floor with me today, my friend. Have a tunetastical week!

I remember some of those. Twisted Sister even did a cover of Leader of the Pack.

  5.

I know some of these tunes Dolly!!
    rock on.
    Thanks for sharing.

    Have a blessed week 😉

Great theme. This was hard because I had some great songs but they were like a year outside my high school years.

Thanks for hosting and have a wonderful Monday and dance.

These are all great, and only one, “Don’t Think Twice,” was unfamiliar. You know, I wonder if The Wonder Who? is really The Newbeats, who did “Bread and Butter” in 1964?

The lead singer for Stealer’s Wheel, Gerry Rafferty, had a pretty good solo career later…

I was in junior high when I first heard the Four Seasons version of “Don’t Think Twice”. The artist was a mystery for a short time, but once it was revealed I had my mother buy me the album for Christmas. That was 1965 I guess. I still have that same album, well-worn, but still playable. It’s an interesting artifact of music. The album was released under the Four Seasons name and not The Wonder Who.

I was blown away when I first heard and saw The Seeds on the TV show Where the Action Is. They had the longest hair of any group I had seen to that date (probably around 1966 or ’67?). Their psychedelic sound was where my musical interests were going at the time. I had one 8 track cartridge of a Seeds album.

Wow! I had no idea all of these great songs were one hit wonders. I wonder what these bands could have done that didn’t happen.

Thanks for the lovely comment!
