  1.

Very lovely songs. Loved them all. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful Monday.

  2.

Nice theme, Marie! I’m also using Rockin’ Robin in my theme today – but a completely different theme. Just goes to show the versatility of so many songs 🙂 My post will go live in less than an hour, so hopefully you’ll be able to update that graphic for me 🙂 Have a great week!

    Marie,

I have to admit, I haven’t heard Barbara Fairchild in forever. I all but forgot about her “The Teddy Bear Song”. Oh, I always loved hearing Danny Thomas sing “Hush-a-bye”, another song I had forgotten. I’m not sure if I have rhythm, but I love the song, “I’ve Got Rhythm”. 🙂 What’s not to love about “Rockin’ Robin”? You know that was DH’s sign-off song in his short radio history as a teen. Thanks for sharing the dance floor with me today, my friend. Now, you better take it easy. Have a good week, my friend!

Rockin’ Robin is a classic from my youth. You gotta wonder who decided that a great name for a vocal group should be “The Happenings”? Their harmonies were tight and common to 50’s & 60’s boy bands. Nice set of tunes for dancing. Thanks for sharing.

  5.

I was offline most of July and missed today was a freebie. But I might have something next week.

  6.

Great songs today! First, that clip of Barbara Fairchild was from “Hee Haw,” for many of us our introduction to country music and good ol’ cornpone humor. We loved it!

Danny Thomas was a superior entertainer, and a great person. St. Jude’s Hospital helps so many kids and families, and I’m happy it’s still going, thanks to Marlo.

The chord changes in “I Got Rhythm” are the basis for so many jazz tunes, and a lot of fun to improvise over. When I first heard The Happenings’ version all those years ago, I thought it was a brand new tune, and it was, about forty years earlier…

I always preferred Bobby Day’s version (the original” of “Rockin’ Robin” over Michael Jackson’s. Michael sounded like he was screeching it.

And I learned the hard way that you really need to change the rules for “Chuck.” (Figure it out…)

  7.

Wishing you the very best with your back surgery! I love The Teddy Bear Song 🙂

  8.

The Teddy Bear song, believe it or not, was new to me. Danny Thomas brought tears to my eyes Now the Happenings – when that song was a hit I hadn’t gotten into George Gershwin yet and it was so rockin’ to hear their cover – sorry, George, the Happenings rocked it! The Name Game – I must admit, I liked the original Shirley Ellis because it went on a little longer – but no problem, I sang the entire song aloud (once I realized the different names this one was using). Thank you for the sing along!

Thanks for the lovely comment!
