    Marie,

I was really little when Sukiyaki Kyu Sakamoto hit the airwaves. Wiki says the song released in 1962 and became a US #1 hit June 1963, so I would’ve been about two and half years old but the song remained popular much of the decade. I had no idea what the words were but the sound of the song was pretty to my little ears. Have you read the English translation of the lyrics? They are nice. It’s a beautiful song. Darci Lynn is an amazingly talented young girl. I have my eye on her and expect that she’ll do great thing in her career. Deano had a fantastic voice. I loved his smooth swagger! We need some new talent to follow in those old crooners’ footsteps. It’s a fading mewsic style. Thanks for sharing the dance floor with me, dear friend. I hope you and your family had a lovely day celebrating Father’s Day. Dads are so often underappreciated and misunderstood. They do so much for their children from birth until he leaves this life that sometimes a kid can’t see that until it’s too late. Have a boogietastic week, my dear!

I cannot imagine that I will hear a more interesting or diverse playlist today. Well done. I truly enjoyed The Seekers back in the day and I Am Australian is a beautiful song. Sukiyaki is certainly a blast from the past and always a fond memory. I grew up watching the crooners, Perry Como, Andy Williams, and Dean Martin television shows. Dean was the most natural entertainer, maybe because of his time spent playing straight-man to Jerry Lewis. He proved to be a very good actor as well. Thanks for the trip down memory lane this morning. Have a blessed week.

I love Darci Lynn! That young lady is going places. And the Unicorn song. We picked a few of the same songs.

Darci Lynne is amazing! I’ve been following her on Instagram for a couple of years now, and she is as sweet as she is talented. She might be the best ventriloquist I’ve seen. Seriously, Edgar Bergen, Jimmy Nelson, Paul Winchell, Wayland Flowers, Willie Tyler, Jeff Dunham… I swear, I think she’s got all of them beat. Great set today!

  9.

…the Seekers are at the top of my list. Darci Lynne’s “O Mio Babbino Caro” is something else, but I’ll stick with Montserrat Caballe!

  10.

    Some cool classics there!

You sure went around the world (I didn’t have anything from Asia or Australia, but I had intended to include Australia and INXS; it just slipped my mind)! All of your selections, even the Dean Martin one, are brand new to me! Have a great week!

I was old enough to totally fall in love with Sukiyaki in my late childhood. None of us understood a word of it but it was sung so well and sounded so beautiful. I can never listen to this song without being saddened, knowing that Kyu Sakamoto perished in the worst airline disaster in history in 1985. The Unicorn Song is always a fun song, Dino always delivers a great performance, but I have to say my favorite was The Seekers and their set, including Waltzing Mathilda, I Am Australian and Georgy Girl. I enjoyed that one so much; thank you for finding it!

I like the opera act from Darcy!
